Define what you want the pond to do
Pond construction, cleaning and expansion involve different starting conditions. A new pond inquiry should describe the proposed area and intended use. For an existing pond, explain whether the concern is accumulated material, the current shape or a desire to enlarge the water area.
Access and material handling are important parts of the conversation. Identify where equipment can approach and where removed material could go. Existing water levels and the condition of the surrounding work area also need to be discussed when reviewing the project.
Share any plans or design information already prepared. The initial inquiry does not establish water-retention performance, an engineered design or a permit determination. The agreed quote should define the excavation or cleanup work, boundaries and handling of material, with other project requirements identified separately.
